AVT Australia Launches the CM62 Micro Gimbal at Land Forces

From 1st June 2021, AVT Australia will be launching its CM62 Micro Gimbal at Land Forces, at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The gimbal will be on display at the AVT Australia booth (#1P3), alongside AVT Australia’s range of imaging systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR).

The CM62 Micro Gimbal is an innovative, multi-sensor imaging system that combines high definition electro-optical (EO) imagery and a custom long-wave infrared (LWIR) core in a 260g, compact system. Developed under a Defence Innovation Hub (DIH) contract, the CM62 offers high performance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), in a small, lightweight and low-power system to enhance future small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) operations.

“We are proud to announce the public launch of the CM62 Micro Gimbal, which will deliver innovative surveillance capabilities for Group 1 UAS missions” said Joel Pineiro, Managing Director at AVT Australia, “The CM62 represents a new generation of miniature surveillance systems that is capable of delivering accurate daylight and thermal imaging, with superior onboard processing features, in a system that weighs as little as 260g. This system will have a significant impact on the future-warfighter during sUAS operations.”

For the very first time, the CM62 Micro Gimbal will be on display to the public. AVT Australia encourages delegates to view the system on the AVT Australia booth (#1P3) at Land Forces.

AVT Australia Successfully Demonstrates Micro Gimbal to Defence Stakeholders

AVT Australia has successfully demonstrated its innovative CM62 Micro Gimbal to key personnel in the Defence Science & Technology Group (DST), Defence Innovation Hub (DIH), and the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

AVT Australia conducted a series of flight, laboratory, and environmental demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of the CM62 Micro Gimbal. This included demonstrations of Electro-Optical (EO) ultra-zoom, long-wave infrared (LWIR) imagery and a range of onboard smart features.

The CM62 Micro Gimbal is a miniature multi-sensor imaging system that has been developed to provide improved intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and target acquisition capabilities during small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) operations.

The system combines HD long-range EO imagery and a custom LWIR core in a 260g, compact system. With improved stabilisation, the Micro Gimbal facilitates accurate day and night target detection and identification, in a small, lightweight and low power system to enhance the operator’s situational awareness in the field.

“AVT Australia has set the industry standard for miniature gyro-stabilised imaging systems for ISR and target acquisition operations” said Chief Technology Officer, Philipp Senn. “The capabilities of the CM62 Micro Gimbal have never before been achieved in a system of its size, weight and power. We are proud to develop world-leading capabilities here in Australia.”

AVT Australia will showcase the CM62 Micro Gimbal at this year’s Land Forces tradeshow in Brisbane from 1-3 June. To find out more about the system, visit AVT Australia on booth #1P3.
